Part two of my Vilnius street photo series taken in June 2012. (Part one is here.) The accompanying poem is by Janina Degutyte, a wonderful 20th-century Lithuanian poet.
BREAD AND SALT
Through a high gate
Adorned with words and wreaths,
Through a high gate
I enter
Like a guest
A valley
Vaulted by forests,
Clouds,
The flight of wild swans…
And with lips roughened
By northern winds
I accept
The black night
And the white day
As bread and salt.

Thanks, Richard, for the kind words and for looking at these photos.
Three very nice sets (sorry, looked at them in the wrong order). Kerchief is masterful.
